Does ClearAML include staff AML compliance testing?

The AML/CTF Act requires reporting entities to train staff on their AML/CTF obligations and keep records of that training. ClearAML's built-in staff compliance testing provides a structured way to meet this obligation — and to prove you have met it when AUSTRAC asks.

What ClearAML currently provides

• AML/CTF compliance quiz: A structured quiz covering your firm's AML/CTF obligations, red-flag recognition, reporting requirements, and the tipping-off prohibition. Staff must complete the quiz, and their score is recorded.
• Personnel Due Diligence (PDD): Each key staff member completes their own check — an ID check, screening, the criminal history question and a declaration — and another reviewer at your firm approves or rejects it, with the reviewer, date and reason recorded. A sole operator, with nobody else to review them, completes a self-assessment instead, which has no ID check.

Why documented testing beats a verbal briefing

AUSTRAC does not accept "we briefed the team verbally" as evidence of training compliance. What AUSTRAC inspectors look for is documented evidence that staff received training, understood it (demonstrated by assessment), and that the training was dated. ClearAML's quiz completion records provide exactly this — with a timestamp, the staff member's name, and their score.

Audit log retention

Quiz completions and PDD decisions are recorded in ClearAML's append-only audit log and kept while your subscription is active. If AUSTRAC requests evidence of staff training, you can produce it in seconds — and export it to keep for the full 7 years.
